After feeling the embarrassment of the above situation, I developed the following process that works every time. It works no matter what time of the year you want to verify your QuickBooks numbers.  My process involves verifying the Balance Sheet Accounts.  I will teach you how to verify the previous quarter from where ever you are starting.  This is the same process you will use at year-end to save countless hours of retrieving documents or trying to figure out transactions from prior months when requested by the CPA for tax preparation.

With this process, you can confidently hand over the documents and a copy of your QuickBooks data to the CPA.  This process will save you time and billing charges from your CPA for tax preparation.
