This book is a dictionary of "buckish slang, university wit, an pickpocket eloquence".  It contains 4221 slang phrases, cant words and vulgar expressions. The book had been published in many editions since its first edition in 1785 under many titles such as "A Classical Dictionary of the Vulgar Tongue", "Lexicon Balatronicum", "Dictionary of the Vulgar Tongue", etc. This particular volume is the republication of its 1811 edition.
